Basilisk (formerly known as RPM Live CD) is a Linux live CD based on Fedora Core. The CD image is a workstation with KDE, Gnome, Office, Internet/network and other applications, as well as servers and services to integrate into a LAN workgroup or domain.
Basilisk was put together as a showcase for what Linux can do before someone commits to installing it on their harddrive. It uses KDE as its window manager by default, but also comes with GNOME (which is Fedora's default).
It provides a full office suite (OpenOffice.org), instant messaging (Gaim), internet telephony (Skype, Ekiga, Teamspeak), web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla, Konqueror, Epiphany), and various network tools (AirSnort, Snort, NMAP, Ethereal). It is multilingual, supporting English, French, German and Italian.
