Logopinguy

Pinguy OS is based on Ubuntu and comes with lots of software out-of-the-box. There are two main Releases (Version Numbers) of Pinguy OS, with one being 10.04.3 LTS, and the other being 11.04.1, (based off of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Ubuntu 11.04, respectively).

There is a full Version of Pinguy OS, plus a 'Mini' Disk, which is basically a stripped down Version of Pinguy OS, with far less on a default Install, and thus, a far, far smaller Download and Live Disk size.

Ping-Eee OS, is the Netbook Edition of Pinguy OS. Ping-Eee OS, only comes in 32-bit.

Ubuntu and Pinguy

Pinguy OS is part of Ubuntu, but doesn't look like it. It is aimed for straight out plain users who know nothing about Linux. It ships with Ubuntu Software Center, proving that it is a modified version of Ubuntu. Pinguy OS features the Linux kernel, allowing for modification of the software. It is not officially supported by Ubuntu, but instead by one developer.

PinguyOS is the brainchild of one man, Antoni Norman and he is still the lead developer on the project.

Think about it: What if one person developed something that was free for all to use? That one guy would want only one thing: For people to help him. This is how most developers think. They must help one another accomplish things, no matter what state the project is in.
